We all know that the traditional processing steps of charcoal briquettes making is generally Crushing – Drying – Briquetting – Carbonizing, etc. which is a production method of carbonization after briquetting. There are many advantages of this method, for example, charcoal has features of 100% natural, no any additives, low ash content. There are some disadvantages too, such as high power consumption, high maintenance cost of equipments.
Here is the other method to make charcoal briquettes, it is Carbonizing-Briquetting, in other words, briquetting after carbonizing.
In this method, all kind of raw materials can be suitable, like sawdust, rice husk, coconut shell, tree, etc. For different raw materials, different carbonization furnace is needed. Continues type rotary carbonization furnace, the suitable raw materials can be sawdust, rice husk, coconut shell, wood chips, etc. Batch type carbonization furnace, the suitable raw materials can be coconut shell, wood, branches, etc.
The first processing step is carbonization. Regarding the raw materials with big size, like wood, branches, they are lump charcoals after carbonizing, can be sold directly, the broken charcoal and fines can be used for making briquettes. And if you want to make uniform shapes, the further processing steps to make charcoal briquettes are needed.
Here are the main features of briquetting after carbonizing:
1. Raw materials.
All kinds of biomass can be used as raw materials, no matter which sizes they are. For big size, they can be sold directly, after carbonizing. For small size, they can be used for further processing to make briquettes.
2. The features of resulting charcoal briquettes.
Uniform shape. The resulting charcoal briquettes have uniform shape and dimension. Besides, it is very easy to make different shapes via replacing with different molds.
High density. The binder and water are needed when mixing. After mixing, it will be easy to compact mixtures into briquettes, and the resulting charcoal briquettes have high density, which is helpful for packing and transporting too.
3. The features of equipments.
The charcoal fines are easy to be formed into briquettes. Therefore, the charcoal briquette making machine has high capacity, and low maintenance cost. But, the dryer are needed to dry charcoal briquettes.
