Summary :This text is mainly to introduce how to use biomass materials to make charcoal briquettes.

The features of processing step of charcoal briquettes making: Briquetting- Carbonizing

We all know that the traditional processing steps of charcoal briquettes making is generally Crushing – Drying – Briquetting – Carbonizing, etc. which is a production method of carbonization after briquetting.

The traditional method of carbonization after briquetting, the raw materials are mainly sawdust, rice husk, etc. which are in small sizes. The raw materials can also be wood logs, wood chips, stalks, etc, which are in big sizes. These raw materials must be processed firstly, to convert into powders.

The moisture content of raw materials for briquetting is 8%-12%, so the drying equipments are generally needed, to reduce moisture content to proper level. After the raw materials are prepared, the biomass briquette extruder can press prepared raw materials into briquettes. And then carbonize biomass briquettes into charcoal briquettes.

Here are the main features of carbonization after briquetting:

1. Raw materials. In this method, the raw materials are generally small size materials like sawdust and rice husk. For the trees, wood chips, etc. they can also be as the raw materials, but crushing process is needed. Therefore, in practical charcoal briquettes production, they are generally carbonized into charcoal and sold directly, we call it lump charcoal. There is no need to through the complex processing steps like Crushing – Drying – Briquetting – Carbonizing, to make charcoal briquettes finally.

2. The features of resulting charcoal briquettes. The charcoal briquettes produced in the method of carbonizing after briquetting, has the same features as lump charcoal. The main features as following.

100% natural. Because biomass materials contain lignin which is a natural binder, there is no need to add binder when compressing biomass into briquettes. So the resulting charcoal briquette is 100% natural, no any additives.

Low ash content. The biomass briquette has high density, so the charcoal briquette will burn hotter and low ash after burning.

3. The features of equipments. The biomass materials are hard to be formed into briquettes, high pressure and temperature are needed.
